Job Details

Epsilon C5I (, a division of Epsilon Systems Solutions, is a 100 percent employee-owned company founded in 1998 with more than 20 locations serving the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Department of Homeland Security, non-profit and commercial customers. The Dayton division has recently been named as one of only five prime awardees for the 10-year, $4.7 billion NOVASTAR contract supporting the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC), WPAFB, Ohio.

The Dayton division is currently searching for a Data Scientist (ES2). The candidate will be focused on data processing for structured data, specifically leveraging AI and machine learning to create scalable and repeatable analysis across various geographic and Functional Threat Reporting (FTR) domains. A key part of work will involve developing these enhancements within a containerized environment to ensure they're portable and compatible with existing enterprise systems. The candidate will be instrumental in establishing data standards, including metadata schemas and governance protocols, to ensure data consistency and quality. These outputs will directly feed into wargaming and visualization environments, providing predictive insights for force employment planning by highlighting emergent trends and supporting scenario-based modeling. Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a technical team and have effective oral and written communication skills. Successful candidates will have strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Most of the work supports the Scientific and Technical Intelligence community. This challenging position requires a diverse set of technical and task management skills and allows for the opportunity to contribute immediately to important, meaningful work. Desire an active TS/SCI clearance. Work is performed onsite in the Dayton, Ohio area.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Needs to be able to collect, clean, preprocess, and consolidate unfiltered, unstructured datasets from data feeds such as MIST/FADE & thresher

Develop and implement AI/ML solutions for structured data: Design, build, and deploy artificial intelligence and machine learning models to process and analyze structured data.

Ensure scalability and repeatability of analysis: Develop data processing pipelines that can be easily scaled up or down and consistently applied across different geographic areas

Containerize data processing enhancements: Package developed solutions within containerized environments (e.g., Docker) to ensure portability and seamless integration with existing enterprise architectures.

Establish and enforce data standards: Define and implement data standards, including metadata schemas, data formatting conventions, and governance protocols, to ensure the consistency, quality, and proper integration of structured data.

Facilitate data interoperability: Design and manage data processes that promote long-term interoperability of data across various mission sets, stakeholders, and platforms.

Support wargaming and visualization environments: Develop data outputs that can be readily consumed by wargaming and visualization tools to support scenario-based modeling and provide insightful representations of data.

Identify and highlight emergent trends: Utilize data processing capabilities to detect and bring attention to new or developing trends within the analyzed data.

Generate predictive insights: Apply AI/ML and other analytical techniques to produce forward-looking insights that inform force employment planning.

Enhance analytic rigor and speed: Continuously improve data processing methods to increase the accuracy, depth, and efficiency of data analysis.

Promote mission integration: Ensure that data processing enhancements seamlessly integrate with broader mission objectives and workflows.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physical Sciences, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other closely related field.

5+ years of relevant experience in engineering, science, or mathematics.

Strong Data Processing Skills: Expertise in handling and processing structured data.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) Expertise: Proven ability to leverage AI/ML techniques for scalable and repeatable data analysis. This includes experience with:

o Developing, training, and deploying AI/ML models.

Relevant frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).

Understanding of machine learning algorithms and their applications.

Containerization Experience: Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) to ensure portability and interoperability of developed solutions.

Demonstrated experience in establishing and implementing data standards, including:

o Defining metadata schemas.

o Establishing data formatting conventions.

o Developing and enforcing governance protocols for data quality and consistency.

Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data science and AI/ML, such as Python, R, SQL, and potentially MATLAB.

Experience in preparing and delivering data outputs that feed into wargaming and visualization environments, implying familiarity with relevant tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and an understanding of how data supports scenario-based modeling.

Applicant must have an active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance, with SCI eligibility.

Applicant must reside within commuting distance to WPAFB, OH or willing to relocate to the area.

AI/ML experience.

Technical leadership experience.

Experience with INDOPACOM, EUCOM, and CENTCOM Theater mission and requirements.

Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, Java, JavaScript, and C++.

Experience with data processing focusing on structured data, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to enable scalable, repeatable analysis across geographic areas of responsibility and Functional Threat Reporting (FTR) domains.

Delivered enhancements shall be in a containerized environment to ensure portability and interoperability with enterprise architectures.

Ability to establish data standards, including metadata schemas, data formatting conventions, and governance protocols to ensure consistency, quality, and integration of structured data across mission sets.

Facilitate long-term data interoperability and analytic repeatability across stakeholders and platforms. Outputs shall feed into wargaming and visualization environments to support scenario-based modeling, highlight emergent trends, and deliver predictive insight to inform FTR force employment planning. The combined automation, data standardization, and AI/ML capabilities shall significantly enhance analytic rigor, speed, and mission integration.

Must have strong written communication skills, possess good people skills, demonstrate strong attention to detail and have the desire to work on a highly focused technical team of engineers, analysts, and scientists.

Possess effective communication and be able to collaborate with Customers, and cross-functional teams, document technical processes, and present solutions to stakeholders.
