Position Overview

We are conducting a confidential search for a strategic and hands-on Director of Information Technology to lead technology operations for a mid-sized, high-growth financial services company undergoing digital transformation. This role will oversee the internal IT function, guide a full ERP implementation, manage a third-party MSP, and lead initiatives to modernize systems, improve automation, and strengthen cybersecurity. This role will also be responsible for leading, developing, and mentoring a growing team of in-house technical professionals across development, QA, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Transformation
  • Lead modernization initiatives across infrastructure, security, applications, and ERP.
  • Act as the internal lead for an ERP implementation, including data integrity, adoption, and integration.
  • Define and maintain a 1–3-year IT roadmap aligned with organizational goals.
  • Drive strategic technology projects including data centralization and automation.

Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead and develop a team of in-house technical professionals, including developers, DevOps, QA, and Salesforce specialists.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement within the IT team.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities to support individual and team growth.
  • Ensure clear communication, goal alignment, and delivery expectations across remote, hybrid, and onsite team members.

IT Operations & Vendor Management
  • Oversee the Managed Services Provider (MSP), ensuring clear SLAs, documentation, and service quality.
  • Establish formal governance for IT processes, vendor relationships, and security compliance.
  • Build scalable internal IT support processes, reducing key-person dependencies.

Systems & Application Oversight
  • Own and manage key platforms including Salesforce, AWS, QuickBooks (Online & Desktop), and the ERP system.
  • Ensure application integration, reduce manual workflows, and optimize system performance.
  • Support development of reporting and analytics tools to improve data-driven decision-making.

Cybersecurity & Compliance
  • Implement and maintain security infrastructure including MDM, SIEM, and endpoint protection.
  • Improve identity and access management, onboarding/offboarding, and compliance documentation.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and the MSP to uphold data protection standards.
Qualifications

Required:
  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong experience managing both internal IT teams and external MSPs.
  • Proven success with ERP implementations.
  • Deep understanding of business systems and integrations (Salesforce, AWS, QuickBooks).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to align IT efforts to business needs.
  • Experience supporting secure environments with sensitive financial data.
Preferred:
  • PE-backed company experience.
  • Familiarity with third-party payment systems or financial compliance tools.
  • Experience implementing or supporting AI/ML initiatives or advanced reporting environments.
  • Strong project portfolio management and documentation skills.
