What You'll Be Doing
- Batteries are a critical part of space vehicle design. Understanding battery performance and degradation characteristics can help inform mission capabilities and life.
- You will work with a team of test engineers and scientists to execute battery cell testing and run experiments to evaluate battery materials and performance.
- You will develop profiles to execute the tests on battery test equipment. You will then start the tests and follow them through completion.
- You will process battery test data and prepare details of analytical reports, including preliminary findings and recommendations. May develop code for efficient analysis of battery cell data, as well as modeling and trending performance and degradation.
- You will develop and implement innovative testing methodologies to enhance efficiency and reliability of battery tests
- Duties, responsibilities and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as needed
- Training and mentorship will be provided

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university program Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
- Prior internship at The Aerospace Corporation
- 0-1 year of industry work experience
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Experience in any of the following: battery testing/cycling, cell screening and battery pack development, battery modeling, or other electrochemical research
- Experience with data processing/visualization software such as Python, Origin, Tableau, or Microsoft Excel
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Active security clearance
- Experience in following and developing electrical schematics
- Experience with the use of electrical test equipment, such as Digital Multimeters and Oscilloscopes, and commercial battery cyclers, such as Arbin or Maccor
- Experience with mechanical tools, such as screwdrivers, crimpers, and power drills
- Experience with developing, troubleshooting, and executing programs (for example for data analysis or modeling) using Python, Java, Matlab or other high-level programming language
