Overview

As a Level 2 Data Center Technician at Microsoft's Goodyear facility, you will play a critical role in maintaining the infrastructure that powers services like Azure, Office 365, Xbox, and more. You'll be responsible for hardware deployments, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and decommissions, while mentoring junior technicians and ensuring compliance with safety and security protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Datacenter Operations

  • Prepare, install, troubleshoot, and decommission IT hardware (servers, storage, network equipment).
  • Understand cabling infrastructure and interactions between network/server/storage systems.
  • Review and respond to Process Change Notifications (PCNs).
  • Complete service tickets aligned with KPIs and escalate complex issues as needed.

Service Delivery

  • Execute hardware startups/shutdowns and verify deployments.
  • Perform diagnostics and replace faulty components with minimal disruption.
  • Handle infrastructure refreshes and simple changes (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds).
  • Process data-bearing devices (DBDs) for secure destruction.

Managing Service

  • Track performance metrics and participate in monthly reviews.
  • Collaborate across teams and shifts to ensure smooth handoffs.
  • Complete required training and certifications.

Safety & Security

  • Participate in daily safety briefings and comply with EHS protocols.
  • Use appropriate PPE and report safety concerns.
  • Escort third-party vendors and report physical security incidents.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ year experience supporting IT equipment (e.g., help desk, networking, military)
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights/weekends/holidays
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check

Preferred

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years supporting IT hardware
  • 2+ years in a mission-critical 24x7x365 data center environment
  • Experience with AI GPU equipment (e.g., H100, A100)

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing ladders/stairs
  • Normal visual acuity and color vision required

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.
