Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA)

Position Overview:

A reputable organization is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) for a remote 6-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing database systems to ensure peak performance, security, and reliability. This role is well-suited for a proactive problem-solver with strong technical skills and experience working in secure, enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, upgrade, and configure database management systems (DBMS) and related applications

  • Conduct daily health checks, monitor database operations, and perform performance tuning

  • Optimize queries, manage storage capacity, and ensure system availability and scalability

  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity

  • Enforce database security policies to guard against unauthorized access and cyber threats

  • Work closely with developers and IT teams to support application performance and integration needs

  • Identify and resolve system performance issues, recommending and applying improvements as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator

  • Proficiency with one or more of the following: SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB

  • Experience with backup/recovery tools and disaster recovery planning

  • Strong expertise in query optimization, indexing, and database tuning

  • Familiarity with cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud Platform Cloud SQL)

  • Solid understanding of database security best practices and compliance standards

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle DBA, or cloud database platforms (AWS/Azure)

  • Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python)

  • Experience working within Agile or DevOps environments.
