Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Job Type: Contract
Job Description:
- The Entomology Lab Technician will perform hands-on work with plants, insect species, and assay materials to support entomology testing.
- This role requires attention to detail, adherence to protocols, and collaboration within a lab environment.
- Clip and thin plants used in testing.
- Infest plant and artificial diet material with various non-stinging, non-hazardous insect species.
- Formulate routine assays using manual pipettes.
- Apply specialized assays using hand sprayers and track sprayers.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and restock supplies.
- Grade insect assays and prepare media used in entomology testing.
- Scribe for evaluators as needed.
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse group setting.
- Flexible and able to shift focus as needed to meet testing demands.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Ability to follow directions and laboratory protocols.
- Previous work experience required (does not need to be lab-related).
- Hands-on experience with biological specimens preferred.
- Ability to follow SOPs and adhere to safety protocols.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Effective collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor s degree in Biology, Entomology, or related field.
- Understands and follows laboratory safety procedures, EH&S standards, and proper use of PPE.
- Adheres to all safety protocols and guidelines in a laboratory environment.
