Job Details
As an RF Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for simulating and modeling terrestrial and in-orbit communication systems. You will play a key role in supporting the definition of system architecture and ensuring high-performance, reliable RF communication across all network components.
Main Responsibilities:
Education & Experience - Required:
Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Main Responsibilities:
- Simulate and model end-to-end communication systems, incorporating both ground and space segments.
- Collaborate with system architects, RF engineers, antenna specialists, and terminal/station teams to allocate system functions across hardware and software domains.
- Analyze RF link performance, manage link budgets, and account for impairments introduced by various system components.
- Develop and maintain system performance budgets and derive detailed specifications for RF links, RF subsystems, and antenna systems.
- Characterize overall system performance through simulations and trade studies.
- Provide technical input to regulatory, coordination, and market access teams to support licensing and compliance efforts.
Education & Experience - Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with emphasis in RF/microwave circuits or communication theory.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in RF communication systems.
- Strong understanding of digital communication systems, spread spectrum, single and multi-carrier techniques, and modulation schemes such as PSK, APSK, and QAM.
- Familiarity with modulation standards such as DVB-S2X and DVB-RCS2, as well as Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM) techniques.
- Proficient in MATLAB or equivalent tools for modeling and analysis of RF communication systems.
Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience in analysis and simulation of communication systems.
- In-depth knowledge of RF passive and active components.
- Good understanding of advanced antenna technologies, including digital beamforming and fast beam hopping.
- Experience characterizing radio performance at microwave frequencies, including the effects of rain fade and atmospheric interference.
- Solid understanding of RF transceiver architectures and digital communication theory.
