Job Title: NetApp Storage Administrator
Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Onsite)
Job Type: Contract
Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and skilled NetApp Storage Administrator to join our IT Infrastructure team. This position is heavily focused on supporting and managing NetApp storage systems (approximately 90% of the workload), with additional exposure to other enterprise storage technologies. The ideal candidate will ensure the stability, performance, and reliability of the storage environment while supporting infrastructure projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, monitor, and support NetApp ONTAP storage systems (AFF, FAS, Cloud Volumes).
- Perform storage provisioning, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
- Manage data protection solutions including SnapMirror, SnapVault, and Snapshots.
- Resolve storage-related incidents, service requests, and perform root cause analysis.
- Lead and support infrastructure projects involving deployment, upgrades, and migrations.
- Collaborate with backup, network, and virtualization teams for end-to-end support.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation including architecture diagrams, SOPs, and asset inventory.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Manage lifecycle tasks such as upgrades, patching, and hardware decommissioning.
- Provide on-call support as part of a rotation.
Required Qualifications:
- 3 5 years of experience in enterprise storage administration.
- In-depth hands-on experience with NetApp ONTAP (CLI & System Manager).
- Proficient in storage protocols such as NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, FCP.
- Familiar with NetApp Active IQ, Cloud Insights, or similar tools.
- Experience with storage in VMware, Windows, and Linux environments.
- Basic scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or Shell.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and change management practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NetApp certifications such as NCDA or NCIE.
- Familiarity with VMware integration with NetApp; VMware certifications are a plus.
- Exposure to other storage platforms like Dell EMC, Pure Storage, HPE.
- Experience with hybrid cloud storage or Cloud Volumes ONTAP.
- Understanding of backup and recovery tools (Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup).
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking (Layer 2 preferred).
