This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a hardworking team of Orbital Launch Operations specialists, you will develop the next generation of launch and space vehicles on Florida's Space Coast at our Orbital Launch Site Complex. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of crane operations, assisting transporting large equipment, vehicle stages, large flight hardware, and other components requiring critical lift and handling considerations. The work will involve reviewing and executing lift plans for critical lifting operations utilizing mobile and overhead cranes. In addition, this position will include, inspecting and using proper rigging for critical crane lifts and executing standard lift activities daily. Candidate will have the ability to inspect and properly utilize rigging hardware, lifting slings, as well as maintain Launch Operations mobile cranes and operator training records. Orbital Launch group interfaces directly with vehicle design, production, launch systems, and other test and operational groups. Additional responsibilities include: Interfacing with key stakeholders/engineering scheduling crane operations and coordinate mobile cranes with Crane Vendors. We put a strong emphasis on teamwork, coordination, and service to support all Blue Origin team needs.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 4+ years' experience as a crane operator preferably with lattice and lock and pin booms.
  • 4+ years working with or in the aerospace industry.
  • NCCCO or equivalent Lattice Boom, TSS, TLL certification
  • Ability to pass Air Force Background check for Cape Canaveral
  • Knowledge in industry rigging standards and practices. (ASME, OSHA, SPFCMAN 91-710). Calculate sling angles and sling angle tensions, determine center of gravity mathematically and in the field through extensive training and experience with materials and weights.
  • Must possess the knowledge in using and picking the proper rigging capacities and pick points to support the load safely.
  • Class A CDL with good driving record
  • Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small opening and climbing hand over hand, lifting 50 lbs., and working on ladders/lifts at elevated heights.
  • On-the-job training will be required.
  • Ability to develop and implement Critical lift plans in the field.
  • Ability to precisely follow critical lift plans and procedures prepared by Engineering.
  • Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities.
  • Ability to develop and train new crane operators on proper rigging practices and crane usage.
  • Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Highly important to be customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills and a proven ability to drive complex projects with minimal oversight.
  • Work 1st,2nd or 3rd shift, as well as overtime, when necessary.


Desired:
  • As needed, able to work extended hours and/or 2nd shift.
  • Broad/deep Crane Operations planning skill set.

  • Advanced rigging-Rigger 2 NCCCO
  • Certified Signal Person
  • Aerospace background with experience handling high value aerospace components.
  • Mobile Harbor Crane experience
  • Offshore and knuckle boom crane experience
  • Experience in multi-drum operations; pile driving/auger drilling.
  • Assisting work crews engaged in moving materials, and machines. Trained in all powered and non-powered lifting equipment such as hoists, pulleys, winches, jacks, skates, overhead cranes, mobile cranes, etc.
