Job Title: Payments Business Analyst
Location: Mississauga, ON (Onsite)
Duration/Term: Long-Term Contract


Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payments Business Analyst to bridge business stakeholders and technology teams, playing a pivotal role in translating business goals into robust and scalable payment solutions. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with payment processing systems, liquidity and cash management, and is deeply familiar with industry standards like ISO20022 and SWIFT. This role will support digital transformation initiatives and legacy modernization efforts in the payment space.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with decision-makers and systems owners to define business, financial, and operational requirements
  • Contribute to projects involving payment processing, liquidity management, and cash management for enterprise clients
  • Analyze and define User Stories and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) in tools like JIRA, and work under Agile frameworks
  • Translate business needs into technical solutions through close engagement with development and QA teams
  • Lead walkthroughs of solutions and documents with partners, engineering managers, and quality teams
  • Ensure compliance with payment industry standards such as ISO20022, SWIFT, and regional schemes (e.g., SEPA, UPI, FedNow, RTP, Interac)
  • Track emerging trends in digital banking, mobile payments, tokenization, and integrate insights into solution design
  • Support delivery in Agile teams in coordination with Scrum Masters and Release Train Engineers (RTEs)

Required Skills:

  • Deep functional knowledge of payment ecosystems and protocols
  • Experience with digital transformation initiatives, especially migration from legacy payment systems
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts within financial domains
  • Proficient in using tools like JIRA and creating technical artifacts (user stories, epics, and diagrams)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Knowledge of mobile banking, digital wallets, and tokenization strategies
