Our Client, a Global Financial Services Firm, is seeking a Lead Data Scientist in their New York, NY location.

Job Summary:

The Lead Data Scientist will play a key role in developing advanced decision support systems using data analytics and machine learning, with a focus on natural language processing (NLP). This hands-on position is responsible for leading projects from start to finish and delivering solutions that enhance operational efficiency and business performance. The ideal candidate will be part of a dynamic, innovative team focused on driving data-informed improvements across business units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement machine learning models, particularly NLP-based solutions
  • Perform statistical analysis and hypothesis testing
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively
  • Build, test, and deploy data-driven systems in production environments
  • Collaborate within Agile development teams
  • Leverage big data technologies to support scalable data solutions
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the data science team

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Proficient in SQL and Unix scripting
  • Solid understanding of machine learning techniques, including NLP
  • Knowledge of statistics and hypothesis testing
  • Demonstrated success building models that delivered measurable business impact
  • Hands-on experience deploying models to production
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Working knowledge of big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor s degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
