Director of Governance, Risk & Compliance (Technology)


Location: Austin, TX / Chicago
Level: Director
Function: Technology, Risk, Security



We're partnering with a fast growing, technology led organization to hire a Director of GRC to own and mature the enterprise Governance, Risk & Compliance function.



You'll set the GRC strategy, embed pragmatic risk management across the tech estate, and act as the key partner to Security, Engineering, Data, Legal, and Audit.





Core Responsibilities:



  • Own the enterprise GRC framework across technology, cybersecurity, data, and third party risk

  • Design and maintain risk appetite, controls, policies, and governance forums

  • Drive technology and cyber risk assessments, remediation tracking, and executive reporting

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Cloud, Data, and Product teams to embed GRC into delivery

  • Oversee third party risk management and vendor assurance

  • Build and lead a small but impactful GRC team; manage external partners where required

  • Translate complex risk topics into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders and the board





Required Experience:



  • 10+ years' experience across GRC, technology risk, cybersecurity, or IT controls

  • Proven experience operating at Director level in a tech, fintech, SaaS, or digital first environment

  • Strong working knowledge of modern tech stacks (cloud, APIs, data platforms, SDLC)

  • Track record of leading audits, regulatory interactions, and risk committees
