The likely salary range for this position is $104,895 - $141,917. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

HOW A SENIOR COBOL DEVELOPER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Analyzes user/business software system requirements and determines needs
- Determines the functionality of an application and performs upgrades over time
- Maintains documentation to support software development policies, standards, and procedures
- Develops, analyzes, prioritizes, and organizes requirement specifications, data mapping, diagrams, and flowcharts for developers and testers to follow
- Translates highly technical specifications into clear non-technical requirements
- Develops and documents features and user stories with acceptance criteria
- Assists team with preparation of cost estimates
- Implements best practices for scalability, supportability, ease of maintenance, and system performance
- Creates current and future state documentation related to existing interfaces
- Creates Interface Control Documents (ICD) documenting existing and future interfaces
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, preferred but not required.
- NOTE: If resources do not have a relevant college degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
Required Experience:
- 10+ years' Experience with applications written in COBOL
- 10+ years' Experience and knowledge of DB2 Databases integrated with the mainframe
- Knowledge/experience of SDLC practices
- Experience with information technologies and systems analysis, analyzing business requirements and developing business requirements
- Proven ability to assess business needs and translate them into relevant solutions
- Knowledge/experience with Agile methodologies
- Experience working with Product Owners and creating Features and User Stories
- Experience with VersionOne desired or other Agile management tools
- Working knowledge of a wide variety of programming languages
- Experience with Neon Servers on the mainframe desired
- Experience with Changeman to create packages and promote code
- Ability to scan libraries to find instances of key words / phrases to help research issues
- Respond to incidents in ServiceNow
- Create ServiceNow Change requests following USPS processes
- Participate in meetings relating to specific technical projects or tasks
- Ability to develop and maintain IT documentation
- Independently analyzes and develops innovative resolutions for complex problems, implements solutions independently and as part of a team
- May lead project teams within assigned unit to develop, plan, and manage project tasks
- Develops, plans, and manages project tasks
- Provides training for less experienced team members, if needed
Security Clearance Level:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
- This position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.
