Job Details

Solutions Engineer (Rocket Zeke) 100% Remote

Core Technical Skills

In-depth understanding of z/OS, JCL, and system utilities.

Familiarity with common mainframe job types, datasets, and execution environments.

Knowledge of Zeke architecture, including Master Scheduler, Event Processor, and Zeke Command Interface.

Understanding of Zeke parameters, job setup, scheduling rules, and dependency management.

Creating and managing job schedules, calendars, and time-based dependencies.

Configuring job triggers based on events, files, return codes, or other job completions.

Integrating Zeke with other mainframe tools like Zebb, RACF, ACF2, and enterprise platforms.

Implementation and Customization Skills

Installing Zeke using SMP/E and applying maintenance, PTFs, and upgrades.

Setting up access control using RACF or other external security managers.

Defining user permissions and roles for job submission and monitoring.

Integrate Rocket Zeke with external tools, mainframe security systems (RACF, ACF2), and enterprise platforms

Automating job submission, status checks, and alerts using REXX and CLIST scripting.

Customizing automation with REXX for error handling or conditional processing.

Modifying or creating ISPF panels and menus for user interaction with Zeke.

Monitoring and Optimization

Setting up real-time monitoring for job status and alerts.

Using Zeke commands and panels to track job history, delays, or abnormal ends.

Optimizing job flow and resource usage.

Identifying bottlenecks and tuning event processing.

Configuring logging, reporting, and audit trails.

Ensuring compliance and traceability of job changes and executions.

Process and Communication Skills

Strong Team collaboration

Working with change control systems to manage scheduling changes safely.

Writing detailed documentation for job schedules, dependencies, and maintenance procedures.

Coordinating with application teams, system programmers, and operations staff to align scheduling with business needs.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in mainframe systems, including significant experience with z/OS and JCL.

5+ years of hands-on experience with Rocket Zeke or equivalent competitive mainframe job scheduling tools.

Strong knowledge of SMP/E, RACF/ACF2 security, ISPF, and mainframe batch processing.

Proficiency in scripting with REXX and CLIST for job automation and customization.

Demonstrated experience in integrating scheduling tools with enterprise systems and security platforms.

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a client-facing environment.

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
