About the Role

UKG is seeking a visionary Fellow Software Engineer to lead the architectural strategy for our Pro Human Capital Management (HCM) suite. This is a senior, individual contributor role focused on driving innovation, technical excellence, and business alignment across all Pro HCM solutions. You will influence technology direction and partner with executive leadership, product, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and market-leading Pro HCM products.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
o Define and communicate a multi-year, cross-product architectural vision for Pro HCM.
o Advise executive leadership on technology strategy and investments for Pro HCM solutions.
o Lead the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies (AI/ML, analytics, cloud) to advance HCM capabilities and user experience.
o Develop and maintain architectural standards and governance frameworks tailored to HCM requirements, including compliance, data privacy, and security.
Business Impact & Innovation:
o Drive architectural initiatives that enable business transformation, operational efficiency, and differentiated value for Pro HCM customers.
o Identify and mitigate enterprise-level risks, including regulatory and data protection concerns.
o Champion the integration of AI-driven features, advanced analytics, and automation to enhance workforce management, talent acquisition, and employee engagement.
o Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement within Pro HCM product teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o Partner with product, engineering, HR, and business leaders to ensure architectural alignment with strategic HCM objectives.
o Influence and guide technical leaders and engineers across multiple HCM teams, without direct management responsibility.
o Represent HCM architecture in executive forums, steering committees, and industry engagements.
Technical Excellence:
o Remain hands-on with HCM technologies, conducting deep dives into architecture, code, and systems to validate design integrity.
o Oversee the adoption of modern development methodologies, CI/CD, observability, and quality practices within HCM solutions.
o Ensure HCM products are highly reliable, scalable, secure, and cost-effective, with a focus on cloud-native and multi-tenant architectures.

Qualifications
15+ years of deep expertise in distributed systems, data platforms, and cloud architecture - Proven record design for resilience, scalability, and performance at enterprise scale.
Expertise in cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes), SaaS, multi-tenant architectures, and modern integration technologies.
Exceptional communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills at the executive level.
Demonstrated success in defining and executing multi-year technology strategy aligned to business outcomes.
Strong track record of driving cross-org initiatives (e.g., modernization, cloud, observability, AI adoption) through influence, not authority.
Exceptional communication skills - able to articulate complex technical concepts to executives and engineers alike.
Demonstrated success as a principal architect, distinguished engineer, or similar senior technical role in HCM or enterprise SaaS environments.
Recognized as a technical thought leader and mentor, developing senior/principal engineers and fostering a culture of excellence.
Advanced understanding of AI/ML, analytics, observability, and automation tools relevant to HR and workforce management.
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
