Purchasing Manager with SAP Implementation

Our client is an industry leader in precision manufacturing, delivering innovative solutions across automotive, industrial, and motion technology markets is seeking a Purchasing Manager.

As the Purchasing Manager, you will lead and manage a team of buyers and procurement professionals to achieve financial, quality, safety, and warranty objectives. You will oversee Commodity Buyers, Plant MRO Purchasing, Supplier Quality, and Facilities, ensuring operational excellence and strategic alignment across procurement functions.

This role requires proven management experience, strong leadership skills, and expertise in SAP implementation and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead SAP launch activities for Procurement, including cross-functional collaboration.
• Develop SAP implementation plans and readiness tracking.
• Prepare and present SAP monthly development vs. actual progress reports.
• Oversee transition from Oracle to SAP systems (S4 Hana & Ariba).
• Manage SAP training for Procurement teams and suppliers.
• Drive internal and external SAP issue resolution.
• Identify, develop, and mentor key talent to build a high-performing team.
• Oversee tactical operations of materials management, purchasing, and related functions.
• Collaborate with inventory management on forecasting and planning.
• Partner with Sales, Product Management, Program Management, Engineering, and Warehousing to ensure cross-functional alignment.
• Lead vendor negotiations, contract discussions, and strategic supplier partnerships.
• Support sustainability, Carbon Neutrality, and Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
• Travel 10 20% as required for supplier visits and facility support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in a related field (required).
• 8 10 years of progressive experience in purchasing/procurement leadership.
• Proven SAP experience (implementation and operations).
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
• Hybrid position based in Detroit area
