Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Desktop Engineer to lead the development, deployment, and management of desktop infrastructure across hybrid environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Windows 11 image development, Intune patch automation, Autopilot deployment, and SCCM Co-Management, along with strong leadership and troubleshooting capabilities. This role is critical in driving the evolution of our end-user computing strategy with an emphasis on automation, performance, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Windows 11 Image Development: Build, maintain, and test Windows 11 (including 24H2) images for enterprise deployment using modern imaging techniques and best practices.
- Intune Patch Automation: Design and implement automated patching workflows in Microsoft Intune to ensure seamless, secure device updates.
- Autopilot Deployment: Configure and manage Windows Autopilot for streamlined device provisioning, ensuring a consistent and scalable onboarding experience.
- SCCM Co-Management: Oversee SCCM in a co-managed environment, collaborating with Intune to optimize workloads and transition to cloud-first management where appropriate.
- SCCM Management: Lead the SCCM environment for deployments, updates, software packaging, and patching processes.
- System Optimization: Monitor and improve system health, performance, and security across desktops and laptops in both cloud and on-premise environments.
- Collaboration & Support: Partner with cross-functional IT teams to resolve escalated issues, optimize configurations, and support broader IT initiatives.
- Infrastructure Management: Maintain both on-premise and Azure-integrated desktop infrastructures, ensuring compliance and reliability.
- Driver Management: Maintain up-to-date drivers and hardware compatibility across a diverse device portfolio.
- Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain documentation of technical processes, system changes, and troubleshooting guides.
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Desktop Engineer or Systems Administrator, with a strong focus on SCCM and Intune.
- Proven experience with Windows 11 image development, including automated build and deployment processes.
- Deep understanding of Intune, Autopilot, and patch automation strategies.
- Demonstrated expertise in SCCM Co-Management in hybrid environments.
- Hands-on experience with Azure AD, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, and cloud-based desktop management.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in SCCM (software deployment, patching, reporting, and health checks).
- Strong skills in Microsoft Intune, including compliance policies, configuration profiles, and application management.
- Experience with Windows Autopilot setup and lifecycle management.
- In-depth knowledge of Windows 10/11 OS and enterprise desktop engineering.
- Familiarity with Azure and Active Directory, including Group Policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Microsoft certifications such as MD-102 (Endpoint Administrator) or AZ-104 (Azure Administrator).
- Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell preferred).
- Prior experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small technical teams.
