Little Mountain Test Facility (LMTF) is looking for a Test & Evaluation Engineer, Entry or Associate Level to support the Hill Air Force Base (HAFB) Little Mountain Test Facility (LMTF) Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Program (ICBM) Program out of Ogden, UT.

The overall responsibilities for Boeing at LMTF are Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of unique and state-of-the-art nuclear hardness test labs to verify hardness and survivability for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) portfolio and multiple other Department of Defense (DoD) / Department of Energy (DoE) Programs.

Responsibilities for this position will also include assisting in demonstrating the effectiveness of test methods, develops simple test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition needed to perform the test and minimizing risk; Identifies solutions to basic problems and supports the development of metrology processes, methods, and tools; Supports development of test debrief material. The selected engineer will participate in evaluation of test performance data, review test data for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer. Alerts senior engineers of off-nominal data. Prepare test reports for review. Works under general supervision. The candidates will also support the development of engineering technical data to document the configuration of Test stands, equipment, and interfaces.

This position will directly support Hill Air Force Base (HAFB) Little Mountain Test Facility (LMTF) Radiation Labs for testing, operating and maintaining test stand and support equipment, design test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirements, and upgrades of a variety of test stands and methods including hardness status, projection, data acquisition, analysis, and performance of hardened components.

Responsibilities:
  • General ability to lead a team to conduct a test, compilation of test sequence, monitor progress of the test, and record test activities while being able to accommodate / troubleshoot / maintain any unforeseen events that occur during the test.
  • General knowledge and is proficient in the operation, integration, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automatic test equipment (and associated software, Test Program Sets (TPS), and programming codes).
  • General knowledge across a wide range of radiation effects and electronic, electrical, software engineering disciplines (e.g. analog and digital circuit design, electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) electrical design, embedded software and microprocessor based system designs).
  • Supports development of test debrief material. Participates in evaluation of test performance data. Collects the data and provides recommendation to break/alter configuration. Performs special test procedures as required to support failure investigation. Prepares for next test activities or events based on results. Conducts reallocation, disposition or refurbishment of test articles and assets.
  • Designs component and sub-assembly level hardware or software as specified by the Statement of Work. Uses analytical tools to verify the design. Assists in coordinating the manufacture and assembly of test hardware.
  • Generates simple test plans or aspects of more complex plans. Interfaces with internal contacts, decomposes information from requirements and Statements of Work to formulate basic test approaches. Reviews standards and regulations to assess the impact on the test plan.
  • Develops test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition, needed to perform the test and or document the test stand and existing configuration.
  • Prepares test configuration work instructions and detailed change orders. Coordinates the staging of test hardware. Participates in test readiness reviews, safety reviews and data/control systems checkout to minimize risk. Performs calibrations and system check-out/validation to satisfy test requirements. Configures software for data acquisition and analysis. Prepares daily execution plans for effective use of all test resources.
  • General knowledge of test article/vehicle configuration control procedure required to prepare for a given test. This requires the use of configuration control management process to track and maintain article/vehicle configuration. General ability to configure the test article using test requirements gathered from test plans, government regulations, and safety rules.
  • General knowledge of design of experimental models, mechanisms, prototypes, test rigs and fixtures, test equipment, and load measurement devices. Includes mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatics systems design. Knowledge of machine shop tools and processes. Ability to integrate wide range of test instrumentation (e.g., strain, pressure, and temperature). Utilizes analytical tools.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience in Test & Evaluation, Test planning, Test Labs, and Test reporting

Typical Education/Experience:
  • Level 2: Typically, 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
