Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Field Technician to join our team. This role primarily involves working on-site at schools, maintaining and troubleshooting IPDVS (Internet Protocol Digital Video Surveillance) systems. The Junior Field Technician will be responsible for ensuring the functionality and security of the IPDVS systems, as well as providing support to school staff and ensuring a safe environment. A strong understanding of egress and security protocols is crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • IPDVS System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on IPDVS systems, including hardware and software upgrades, system configurations, and firmware updates.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with IPDVS systems, both hardware and software-related, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
  • On-Site Support: Respond to service requests and inquiries from school staff regarding IPDVS systems, providing timely assistance and addressing technical concerns.
  • Security Monitoring: Monitor IPDVS systems to detect any security breaches, suspicious activities, or policy violations. Respond promptly to security incidents and coordinate with appropriate personnel.
  • Egress Understanding: Have a comprehensive understanding of egress (the process of exiting a building or location) and the security protocols associated with it. Ensure that IPDVS systems are positioned and configured to support effective egress in case of emergencies.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of system configurations, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting procedures. Prepare detailed reports on system performance, incidents, and any necessary recommendations for system improvements.
  • Training and Education: Conduct training sessions for school staff on IPDVS system usage, security protocols, and egress procedures, promoting a safe and secure environment.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other team members, including senior technicians and project managers, to ensure seamless system integration, consistent practices, and efficient workflow.
  • Stay Updated: Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and best practices related to IPDVS systems, egress protocols, and security standards. Continuously expand knowledge and skills through self-learning and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or relevant coursework is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with IPDVS systems or similar video surveillance systems is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of network fundamentals and IP-based technologies.
  • Familiarity with hardware components, including cameras, NVRs (Network Video Recorders), and switches.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Knowledge of egress protocols and security procedures in educational environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide effective on-site support and training.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and travel to different school locations as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
