Job: Systems Engineer III

Duration: 6 Months Contract to hire

Hybrid - Sparks Maryland - 3 days a week onsite

Important skills:

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Support and manage xxxxxxxxxx infrastructure systems through complete life cycle (design, procurement, installation, maintenance). This includes but is not limited to Cisco switches and routers using various network protocols, Windows servers, system backups, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), and other information technology deemed critical to business operation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain network operations on a day-to-day basis for a complex network of 400 VDI Desktops and over 500 virtual servers as part of the Infrastructure Support team.
  2. Troubleshoot and proactively monitor networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
  3. Provide documentation of network operating systems and network topology.
  4. Implement authorized network enhancements and special projects as assigned.
  5. Perform necessary patching and application updates to server infrastructure, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) & supporting systems
  6. Implement, manage, and maintain infrastructure monitoring solution to ensure availability of Kelly Benefits systems
  7. Implement, manage, and maintain the availability of all file shares
  8. Support and maintain recovery systems and operations, including but not limited to: maintaining backup system configuration, performing backup system upgrades, monitoring backups, and performing restores as needed for business resiliency.
  9. Supports the organization in the design and implementation of network components, including support of development systems and assistance with testing.
  10. Recommend new and emerging technologies to solve Kelly Benefits business problems.
  11. Participate in the design of infrastructure systems
  12. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior System Engineers
  13. Participate in a rotating on-call support schedule as needed
  14. Perform other duties as assigned and that are deemed necessary by Information Technology Management to maintain systems availability and business operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology or Computer Science preferred
  2. 5 10 years of System Engineering experience or demonstrated equivalent of work experience and industry accreditation.
  3. Technical certification training from Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix, or other Infrastructure related certification

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER KEY SUCCESS FACTORS:

  1. Expert experience in Microsoft operating systems, both workstation and server.
  2. Expert experience implementing and supporting Citrix VDI Environments (Citrix DaaS preferred).
  3. Expert experience implementing and supporting profile management systems within VDI environment (FSLogix preferred).
  4. Experience with supporting Nutanix hardware and Nutanix AHV.
  5. Strong technical understanding of Windows infrastructure services (e.g., AD, GPO, CIFS, and DFS) within the enterprise.
  6. Experience with VMware ESXi in a clustered environment.
  7. Experience configuring and allocating storage using SANs.
  8. Experience maintaining and supporting fileshare management systems (Resilio preferred) and backup operations (Commvault preferred).
  9. Strong experience configuring and maintaining Cisco switches, routers, and security appliances.
  10. Strong experience in writing scripts to automate operations in Batch and VBScript (PowerShell and/or Perl considered a plus).
  11. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  12. Experience with certificate management.
  13. Must be detail-oriented, security conscious, and proficient in troubleshooting.
  14. Strong written and oral communication skills to provide for effective documentation and business cases development.
  15. Ability to troubleshoot technical problems with tact and focus, under extreme pressure during planned and unplanned outages.

  17. Ability to administer large and complex computer networks.
