Job Description:

Position: Applied Data Scientist

Location: 100% remote

Duration: Fulltime

Client: Direct Client

Required qualifications:
The applied data scientist will work as part of the Measurement & Outcomes team to produce actionable, data-driven insights for internal and external stakeholders. Using their expertise in data science and statistics, alongside knowledge of health claims and behavioral health, the applied data scientist will be responsible for independently accomplishing tasks aligned with client initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience with multiple tools, technologies and cloud-based solutions and can draw from work experience to make recommendations to our behavioral health program.

  • You have a Doctoral degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Health Behavior Research OR a Master s degree plus a minimum of 2-3 years of work experience OR equivalent work experience and specialized training.
  • Expertise in both Python and R, with working knowledge in other programming languages
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis and familiarity with machine learning techniques
  • Solid analytical thinking with the ability to analyze complex problems, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Testing and performance tuning in a distributed Azure environment.
  • Experience with data ingestion from multiple third-party sources, match / merge /update problems, handling schema drift.
  • Have an obvious sense of urgency and purpose.
  • You are focused and determined, optimistic and creative.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience creating optimized methods and prompts for interacting with LLM APIs to produce results in structured formats.
  • Experience developing and packaging R and Python libraries, compatible with publication in CRAN or PyPi.
  • Experience generating inferences using mixed-effects models, as well as an understanding of their application to SMART trials.
  • Knowledge of the application of behavioral health theories to real-time interventions, bonus for publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Knowledge of health claims processes and utilization of health claims data as a clinical and financial outcome.
