Job Details

Typical task breakdown:
  • Execute and support the design, test, manufacture, and commissioning of low and medium voltage switchgear that controls multiple generators that are parallel to one or more utility sources
  • Provide direction to CAD designers to create wiring and assembly drawings for generator paralleling switchgear controls
  • Interact with internal and external customers, accomplishing project milestones
  • Create a bill of materials for generator paralleling switchgear controls in the ERP system
  • Create PLC programs for control of the generator paralleling switchgear
  • Execute multiple projects simultaneously
Education & Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Open to 2-year degrees within EE with 5+ years of experience
  • Internships will not be counted
  • Open to Master's with 3+ years of experience
Experience:
  • 3-5 years'' experience required.
Technical Skills (Required)
  • Ability to create PLC programs using one of the IEC 61131 PLC Programming languages i.e. Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text, or any other PLC programming language
  • Design, test, and commission control systems. i.e. systems with different PLC controllers in the same system, experience in interfacing, designing controls with different manufacturers
  • Develop control software utilizing various PLC platforms. Expert knowledge on at least one of the following PLC platforms. Schneider Momentum, M340, M580, AB Control, Compact Logix, Woodward MSLC, DSLC, Easy Gen, and LS5 Architecture
  • Interpret customer specifications and drawings, and apply them to the design platform while considering industry regulations and requirements
  • Customize PLC software and hardware templates
Technical Skills (Desired)
  • Understand in detail the applicable NEC, UL 508, UL 891, UL 1558, UL MV, CSA 22-2, and ANSI requirements and their applications in switchgear controls
  • Understand protective relays, their functions associated with the Generator, and Utility protection applications
Soft Skills (Required)
  • Understand the design philosophy, operation, and control of complex PLC-based systems
  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Expert ability to work independently and manage one's time.
  • Expert leadership and mentoring skills are necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
