Company Overview

TechSur Solutions is a digital services company whose mission is to enable digital transformation for our customers, improving quality and efficiency. Based in the DC metropolitan area, TechSur specializes in advanced cloud services, modernization for both IT structures and applications, leveraging Agile development, and data analytics. Since we were formed in August of 2016, we have supported multiple impactful and exciting government programs

Overview

  • We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to support both new data platform development and the sustainment of existing enterprise data environments. This role is responsible for designing scalable, secure, and high-performance data architectures while also ensuring the stability, reliability, and compliance of federal operational data systems.
  • The Senior Data Architect will lead efforts to design and implement new solutions (e.g., data lakes, ingestion pipelines), while also managing operations and maintenance (O&M) tasks such as performance tuning, incident resolution, and platform lifecycle support. This dual-focus role ensures continuity between long-term modernization objectives and day-to-day mission delivery across our federal client s data ecosystem.
  • This is a hybrid role based in the Washington, DC area, requiring on-site presence three days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data architecture frameworks for new initiatives including data warehouses, data lakes, and data integration platforms.
  • Support daily O&M activities for the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and associated data marts, staging layers, and metadata systems.
  • Monitor data pipeline jobs, system health, and database performance; troubleshoot failures, degraded performance, or schema issues.
  • Maintain lineage documentation, update metadata repositories, and ensure data quality standards are upheld across all systems.
  • Plan for capacity growth, future integration requirements, and changes to source systems.
  • Respond to stakeholder support requests and provide data architecture expertise during enhancement requests or issue triage.
  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support analytics and enterprise reporting, incorporating standards like dimensional, 3NF, and data vault modeling.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines (ETL/ELT) using tools such as dbt, Apache NiFi, SSIS, or custom Python/SQL workflows.
  • Select and implement appropriate technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, cloud-native services) based on business and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, BI developers, and business analysts to align new architectures with analytical and operational goals.
  • Engage with the data governance team to implement compliance standards using tools like Collibra.
  • Ensure new solutions follow agency governance, metadata, and security standards, including encryption, auditing, and data classification.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in designing and supporting data warehouses, data lakes, and high-volume data pipelines.
  • Experience with data governance tools (e.g. Collibra) and data intelligence and modeling solutions (e.g. ERWIN).
  • Advanced skills in SQL, data modeling, and performance tuning of structured and semi-structured data (e.g., JSON, Parquet).
  • Proven experience with RDBMS (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle), NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse).
  • Experience with data integration tools and scripting languages (e.g., dbt, SSIS, Apache NiFi, Python).
  • Familiarity with governance, compliance, and security frameworks applicable to federal systems (e.g., FISMA, Section 508).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting judicial/federal data programs.
  • Familiarity with court case management systems or legacy systems integration.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialty, Azure Data Engineer Associate, or CDMP.
  • Experience with data quality management, metadata cataloging, or data mesh architectures.

Qualifications

  • Master s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture, with hands-on experience in both new development and production operations.
  • In lieu of a Master s degree, a Bachelor s degree in a related technical field plus minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience is required.
