Detailed Job Description: The recruitment is being used to fill a new Technical Architect position for the Bureau of Information Technology Services (BITS) at the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. The primary responsibility of this position is to serve as the Technical Architect to lead the efforts in building a new program area that modernizes existing infrastructure, software, application, or services and provides technical guidance, implements best practices, and follows the agency s defined policies and standards. This position will partner with a vendor, multiple stake holders, and development teams on the technical infrastructure, application design, coding, and security for multiple applications, systems, and services. The goal for this position is to provide the most advanced level of technical expertise and leadership for the implementation of new solutions and the management of all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC).

This position requires extensive consultation and coordination with internal and external business partners to build new infrastructure components for a complex multi-million-dollar program s technical infrastructure. This position is expected to work with little supervision to create and enforce application security, design, and configure runtime containers, assist in CI/CD processing, advise on SQL Server configuration, and design, and advise on IIS configuration and design.

This position requires knowledge of and experience with architecting multi-layered web applications; creating estimates for analysis, design, configuration, testing and implementation tasks; methods used to install, configure, and maintain large complex web application infrastructure; and knowledge methods required to create detailed project/system plans.

The candidate will require knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Web applications architecture, software development tools such as Visual Basic, VB.Net, ASP.Net, Visual Studio, JAVA Script, NodeJS, Web Services, Stored Procedures, and HTML

A well-qualified candidate will have all the skills listed. A preferred candidate will have experience in securing applications through authorization and authentication using Okta; design, and implementation experience with Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes; and practical knowledge of MS SQL SSRS, SSI, and SSAS services.

It is required to have full audio/video conferencing capabilities (camera and headset).

  7. This position is budgeted for 1960 hours annually. Hours will be prorated the first year based on start date.
