About the Position
Lenovo's Solutions & Services Group (SSG) is a business unit focused on delivering end-to-end IT solutions and services. It combines Lenovo's hardware and software expertise to offer services like attached services, managed services, and "as a Service" (AaS) offerings. SSG aims to help customers achieve their business outcomes by integrating various IT solutions and optimizing their technology investments.
In the Hardware Maintenance Engineer role, you will be responsible for deployment and initial configuration of data center equipment, including servers, storage systems, and SAN switches (Lenovo, NetApp, IBM, Brocade). This position will join us onsite at our Morrisville, NC location on a hybrid schedule 3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the deployment and initial configuration of data center equipment, including servers, storage systems, and SAN switches (Lenovo, NetApp, IBM, Brocade).
- Perform firmware and firmware upgrades for hardware devices.
- Conduct routine administration and inspection of hardware equipment.
- Handle hardware troubleshooting and coordinate repair requests.
- Manage the hardware lifecycle, including planning, tracking, and retirement.
- Design and develop automated operations scripts, tools, and platforms to improve operational efficiency and automation levels.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of Experience with server and storage operation and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency workingwith server hardware architecture (e.g., CPU, memory, RAID cards) and troubleshooting methods.
- Solid understanding of SAN/NAS technologies, multipath configuration, and storage virtualization.
- Understanding of FC and iSCI protocols.
- Hands-on approach to problem solving with excellent problem analysis and resolution skills.
- Solid cross-functional collaboration skills; able to align and communicate with business users and stakeholders across different levels.
- Cultural Competency working across Chinese, American, Desi, European, and South American cultural contexts, ensuring messages are communicated with clarity and tact.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field a plus
