Location: Portland, OR (Hybrid 3 days onsite a week)

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced AWS DevOps Lead to design, implement, and manage scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and cloud-native application deployment. You will lead a team of DevOps engineers and collaborate closely with software development, QA, and security teams to streamline release pipelines and ensure operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy
    • Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, driving best practices in automation, CI/CD, and cloud operations.
    • Define and implement DevOps strategies that align with organizational goals.
    • Collaborate with architecture and development teams to optimize system performance and scalability.
  • Cloud Infrastructure (AWS)
    • Design, build, and manage AWS infrastructure using services like EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudFront, CloudWatch, and IAM.
    • Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery capabilities.
    • Manage cost optimization, monitoring, and performance tuning across AWS environments.
  • Automation & CI/CD
    • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline.
    • Automate infrastructure provisioning using IaC tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or CDK.
    • Enable blue-green or canary deployments for zero-downtime releases.
  • Security & Compliance
    • Implement security best practices for AWS resources, identity management, and network configurations.
    • Collaborate with security teams to maintain compliance (e.g., SOC2, ISO 27001, HIPAA).
  • Monitoring & Incident Management
    • Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Datadog.
    • Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement for production incidents.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of DevOps experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Services and cloud architecture best practices.
  • Proficiency with Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
  • Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and microservices deployment.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or AWS CodeBuild/CodePipeline.
  • Familiarity with Linux administration, networking, and security best practices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional or AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional.
  • Experience with multi-cloud environments (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Knowledge of serverless architectures (Lambda, API Gateway).
  • Experience implementing observability platforms and SRE principles.
