Job Description
Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
The Senior Propulsion Virtual Engineer will partner with Design Responsible Engineers, Designers and Virtual Design Development & Validation Engineers to generate robust and reliable design solutions. You'll perform FEA structural analysis for a variety of engine components including building, debugging, and running analytical models. You'll apply optimization and statistical methods and interpret and communicate results to engineers and managers. You will also lead and execute development of new CAE tools and methods to improve prediction fidelity and execution speed.

You'll apply optimization and statistical methods and interpret and communicate results to engineers and managers. You will also lead and execute development of new CAE tools and methods to improve prediction fidelity and execution speed.
What You'll Do
- Perform structural analysis for early design and verification of concepts, components, and support systems including their vehicle integration
- Retrieve and modify Unigraphics (NX) models of components and assemblies to support the creation of finite element models
- Apply Designs for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology to identify, drive and optimize critical procedures and designs
- Collaborate with broader engineering team for structured design integration, new proposals, problem solving, and system optimization
- Present results that comprehend variation and generate relevant recommendations based on analysis to improve design
- Lead the continuous enhancement of current standard analysis practices and/or tools to improve prediction fidelity and/or execution speed, and development of new methods
- Engage and guide hardware release and validation teams towards virtual replacement of physical hardware and testing
- Contribute to Global CAE Product & Technical Focus Groups and other work groups as requested
- Mentor team members

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, or related degree
- Experience with model creation and FEA analysis
- Experience in using ABAQUS (Implicit, Explicit, ABAQUS CAE)
- 5 years of Engineering experience
- Familiarity with structural engineering materials, large-scale non-linear problems, optimization, topology, reliability, robust design, or process automation
- High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- Understanding of structural mechanics, heat transfer or fatigue principles
- High level of written and oral communication skills; capable of consolidating complicated results into clear design recommendations for customers or leadership
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Master of Science in Engineering, Physics or related degree
- Experience in using Hypermesh, iSIGHT, Optistruct, GENESIS
- Experience in using UG NX
- Direct experience applying FEA tools to propulsion-related systems
- Familiarity or practical experience with the principles of vehicle propulsion system design, operation, or testing
- Experience with programming in Java, Python, MATLAB, or equivalent languages
- Good understanding of establishing loads and boundary conditions for modeling and analysis
- Good understanding of non-linear analysis, failure theories and multi-axial fatigue and composites
