Are you passionate about using data to drive the next generation of online payments experiences? Are you interested in uncovering business insights from big data? Are you a professional in performing data analytics to solve real world problems? If so, then we have a unique opportunity for you. Microsoft is looking for a Data Analyst - Payments who is passionate about online commerce and is looking to contribute to optimizing ecommerce capabilities for Microsoft's online services such as Azure, Microsoft 365, Advertising, Microsoft Store and Gaming.

We are an energetic, fast paced team with a charter to analyze performance and identify solutions and optimization ranging from purchase conversion, payment instrument selection, cost of payments, dynamic payment configuration and billing retry strategy optimization. The right candidate is a results driven, customer-focused and detail-oriented analytics professional with demonstrated communication skills and experience in data querying and statistical methods. Experience in payments, ecommerce or fraud prevention space is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Use statistical and analytical methods to unravel deep insights from large amounts of transaction data
  • Produce reporting and data solutions to support internal decision making and external partner engagement
  • Drive measurement and reporting for complex transaction flows
  • Drive a deep understanding of performance and user behavior across all products and services to empower business decisions and awareness
  • Deliver business results by building innovative and scalable analytics products, including approaches to experimentation and testing
  • Formulate approaches to identify and solve problems and discover new opportunities in context of customer and operational needs

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of work experience in Data Engineering, Data Science, Analytics and/or Statistics
Preferred qualifications
  • 7+ years of work experience in Data Engineering, Data Science, Analytics and/or Statistics
  • Understanding of eCommerce and payments industry is a plus
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards
  • Proven partnership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to influence leadership in a cross-functional environment
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in using predictive analysis, statistical computing, experiments, and machine learning to improve business KPIs
  • Proficiency using one or more programming or scripting language like Python, R, SQL to perform data manipulation and analysis
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining reports and dashboards
  • Communication and storytelling skills, with ability to synthesize, simplify and explain complex data sets to different audiences
  • Self-starter, with the ability to effectively manage priorities and ambiguity
Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.
