Arizona State University seeks a full-time staff member to serve on a multi-year contract for a collaborative project to design and implement a data warehouse solution for homelessness, health, and related multi-sector data to support the project's aims to quantify and understand factors related to preventing and intervening in homelessness in Arizona. The tasks include directed analyses of data in the warehouse.
This collaborative project, directed by the Arizona Housing Analytics Collaborative (AzHAC), is a partnership among Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, University of Arizona, and homeless service agencies across the state to assist in estimating the incidence and prevalence of homelessness in Arizona for individuals and families using linked cross-system administration data. Analyses also identify the health and psychosocial characteristics most likely to produce homelessness and result in successful exits from homelessness. Data are drawn from multiple sectors such as healthcare, housing/homelessness services, economic security, education, criminal justice, and child welfare. The project collaborates with numerous state agencies and community partners in these domains and continuously aligns project plans with their initiatives.
This is a grant-funded position. Continuation is contingent on future grant funding.

Fully remote position. Activities are generally performed in an environmentally controlled office setting. May frequently be required to stand for varying lengths of time and/or walk moderate distances to perform work when applicable. There will be occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities. Evidence of effective communication skills. This position receives regular supervision of duties.

Essential Duties:
- Carry out data science and analysis tasks (e.g., clean, standardize, link, and analyze data from various sources) and transform data based on priority questions and project requirements
- Develop and validate data processes and automation
- Maintain databases in a thorough and efficient manner, ensuring data quality
- Create and manage database documentation
- Apply predictive modeling, statistics, longitudinal analysis, and other data analysis techniques to address specific priority questions
- Utilize effective project planning skills to break down projects into tasks and ensure deadlines are met
- Develop and deliver reports, graphics, and presentations to translate findings to state agencies and community partners
- Learn new technologies quickly and adapt to changing project needs
- Collaborate with the team in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of computational models through the use of data and feedback from state agencies and community partners
- Perform other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with data science and data analysis
- Experience with optimizing queries and data processing to improve efficiency and data quality
- Experience with database design and management
- Experience working with health data and/or human services data
- Experience with common data models in health and social and behavioral sciences
- Knowledge of statistical analysis, data mining, and predictive modeling tools and techniques
- Experience in SAS, Python, R, or similar software
- Ability to complete projects with evidence of creative and critical thinking
- Experience in learning new technologies
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate findings in a clear, accurate, and user-friendly manner
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team
