Job Title: Lead Revenue Accountant

Location: Hybrid Onsite at the client's Lowell, MA office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
Shift: 8:30 AM 5:30 PM EST
Duration: 3-month contract

Position Summary:

The client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lead Revenue Accountant to support its dynamic SaaS and professional services business. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with ASC 606, executing accurate revenue recognition, and partnering cross-functionally to assess financial implications of contracts. You will serve as a critical resource for monthly close processes, analysis, and revenue reporting while working closely with the Senior Revenue Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply ASC 606 principles to analyze complex SaaS and services contracts and determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, and Delivery teams to understand contract deliverables, project milestones, and recognition criteria.
  • Analyze and assess the impact of contract modifications on revenue recognition.
  • Perform weekly and monthly revenue imports from the revenue subledger to the general ledger; troubleshoot processing errors as needed.
  • Review and prepare month-end reconciliations for deferred revenue, contract assets, and sales return reserves.
  • Conduct detailed financial analyses to assess and prepare revenue reserve judgments based on customer activity.
  • Provide guidance and resolution to corporate stakeholders on revenue-related matters and discrepancies.
  • Support external audit processes by preparing required documentation and addressing inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal revenue accounting policies.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to streamline the revenue close process and enhance accuracy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA preferred but not required)
  • Minimum 3 years of revenue accounting experience in a corporate or public accounting environment
  • Solid knowledge of ASC 606 / IFRS 15 and related revenue recognition standards
  • Experience preparing and/or reviewing account reconciliations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, IF formulas) and ability to handle large data sets
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail, proactive mindset, and eagerness to learn new systems and tools

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with revenue systems and ERP platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle, RevPro (Zuora), or Salesforce
  • Familiarity with Alteryx and/or Cognos for reporting and data analysis
