About the Role
We re looking for a highly skilled Lead DevOps Engineer to guide a small team while staying deeply hands-on with automation, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD. You ll be responsible for building and maturing DevOps practices across the organization, driving Infrastructure as Code, and ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable software delivery. This role balances technical leadership with engineering excellence mentoring a team of 5-10 engineers while continuing to design, build, and optimize platforms yourself.
What You ll Do

Lead technical delivery of build, test, and deployment pipelines that enable fast and safe code promotion.

Build, configure, and maintain automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps platforms.

Implement and enhance real-time monitoring, logging, and alerting for mission-critical systems.

Partner with application development and operations teams to optimize performance, reliability, and incident response.

Mentor and coach DevOps engineers, strengthening team practices and ensuring delivery excellence.

Define and execute the DevOps maturity roadmap with a strong emphasis on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC).

Collaborate cross-functionally and document best practices, standards, and processes in Jira/Confluence.

Drive foundational improvements and ensure compliance with HIPAA and security standards.
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor s degree preferred.

7+ years of IT experience, including:
-
3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.

2+ years of DevOps or cloud engineering experience.
-
1+ year in a lead, technical lead, or mentorship role.

Proven ability to lead small teams in large, heterogeneous enterprise environments.

Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).

Hands-on experience with IaC tools (Terraform) and CaC tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

Containers and orchestration in production environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred/Bonus Experience

Healthcare industry and HIPAA compliance.

Atlassian Jira and Confluence.

Unix/Linux system administration.
