EMC Rework Technician - Consumer Electronics Hardware (Part-Time)
Position Details
About the Role
A large enterprise tech company is seeking a Part-Time EMC Rework Technician to support hardware development and debugging efforts across a range of consumer electronics, including phones, watches, displays, cameras, and earbuds. This role is critical during EMC validation and troubleshooting sessions, helping ensure products meet electromagnetic compatibility standards.
The team is open to training and skilling up candidates who are eager to grow in the EMC space. Long-term engagement is preferred.

Position Details
- Location: On-site in Mountain View, CA
- Contract Type: 1-year W-2 contract
- Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours/week
- Start Date: ASAP (subject to onboarding timeline of 4-10 weeks)
About the Role
A large enterprise tech company is seeking a Part-Time EMC Rework Technician to support hardware development and debugging efforts across a range of consumer electronics, including phones, watches, displays, cameras, and earbuds. This role is critical during EMC validation and troubleshooting sessions, helping ensure products meet electromagnetic compatibility standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on rework and modification of electronic hardware to resolve EMC-related issues.
- Analyze EMC test results and identify sources of electromagnetic interference (EMI).
- Collaborate with design, test, and compliance engineers to implement mitigation strategies.
- Review mechanical designs of enclosures, connectors, and cables for EMC compliance.
- Evaluate PCB schematics and layouts to optimize emissions and immunity control.
- Support EMC test planning, execution, and documentation.
- Operate and maintain lab equipment including:
- Spectrum analyzers
- Oscilloscopes
- ESD guns
- Surge testers
- VNAs, LISNs, and CDNs
- Document rework procedures, test outcomes, and technical findings in clear, concise reports.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BS EE)
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience in EMC-related roles
- Strong understanding of EMC principles, EMI/ESD mitigation techniques, and regulatory standards (FCC, CE, CISPR)
- Proficiency in soldering and reworking components as small as 01005
- Ability to interpret schematics, PCB layouts, and mechanical drawings
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of EMI and ESD design best practices
- Experience in consumer electronics, medical devices, or automotive systems
