Location: Trenton, NJ-Hybrid
Duration: 5+Months with Extension

Agency is looking for a Mid-Level SQL Server Migration DBA to support planning, execution, and validation of database migrations with practical experience in SQL Server administration/migration tools across multiple versions and hybrid platforms.

Agency is looking for a mid-level SQL Server DBA consultant with experience in SQL Server database administration, clustering, always on availability groups, server management, backup & restore of SQL Server databases with focus on database migration spanning multiple SQL Server versions, multiple state agencies.

Key responsibilities

- Assist with the assessment and documentation of existing SQL Server environments.
- Support database migration efforts including backup/restore, scripting, data transfers, and validation.
- Perform routine health checks and troubleshooting during and after migrations.
- Collaborate with senior DBAs, infrastructure, and application teams.
- Execute test migrations and contribute to performance tuning and optimization.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and minimal application impact throughout the process
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and security compliance throughout the migration process.
- Maintain documentation and support incident resolution post-migration.

Hands-on experience in SQL Server administration and support (versions 2012 through latest)-Required 3-5 years
Familiarity with SQL Server migration processes and tools (e.g., Data Migration Assistant, backup/restore, always on, or log shipping)-Required 3-5 years
Proficiency in T-SQL and scripting for automation-Required 3-5 years
Working knowledge of SQL Server features like jobs, indexes, users/roles, and performance plans-Required 3-5 years
Experience supporting on-premises and/or hybrid environments-Required 3+ years
Strong understanding of SQL Server tools: SSMS, SSIS, SSRS, and SQL Profiler-Required 3+ years
Hands-on experience with database migration tools and techniques (e.g., Data Migration Assistant, Backup/Restore, Log Shipping, Always On, etc.)-Required 3+ years
Experience with cloud-based migration (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS for SQL Server)-Nice to have 3+ years
Troubleshooting and performance tuning skills-Desired 3+years
