Job Overview:
We are seeking a talented, experienced, and innovative Engineering Support Lead/Supervisor to join our Power Development engineering team. This role will drive innovation and technological advancements to enhance the reliability, affordability, and sustainability of new power generation projects. The position involves collaborating with key stakeholders to develop and maintain engineering design standards for new generation plants (gas and renewables), energy storage projects, and other zero or low-carbon technologies. The successful candidate will ensure engineering products are complete, accurate, and constructible for all project scopes while promoting a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and best practices. This role also requires coordinating cross-functional teams and building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors.

Responsibilities:
  • Promote safe behavior and adherence to safety rules on the project.
  • Maintain and develop engineering design basis documents for new generation project development.
  • Interface with the Capital Projects execution team to incorporate lessons learned.
  • Support and participate in the technical evaluation of project proposals (solar, wind, battery, thermal powerplants, etc.) to ensure conformance to technical standards and objectives.
  • Provide technical support for state regulatory commission approval activities and interface with regulators as needed.
  • Identify engineered safety controls and hazard removal during engineering design.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, including internal Subject Matter Experts, Owners Engineers, EPC Contractors, and Technical Consultants, during EPC contract development.
  • Ensure documentation of engineering is adequately captured for audit and prudency review.
  • Support or lead the creation of official Records of Decision to document major project decisions.
  • Act as Contract Manager for various engineering contracts outside the EPC contract scope.
  • Review engineering designs to ensure compliance with permits, codes, and utility standards.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to meet Project Delivery System requirements and produce associated deliverables.
  • Participate in contractor/vendor selection processes, assessing engineering experience and capabilities.
  • Lead technical open book engineering processes with contractors and apply value engineering concepts.
  • Ensure all engineering service providers are duly licensed in the state of the project.
  • Ensure project compliance with NERC and Security Standards.
  • Store all project documents in the designated repository.
  • Support and follow change management processes.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Advanced degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and PMP certification are desired.
  • 10+ years of applicable and progressive professional experience in engineering design, construction, or operation of power systems (8 years with a PE/PMP Certification/Master's Degree).
  • 12+ years of applicable and progressive professional experience for senior staff roles (10 years with a PE/PMP Certification/Master's Degree).

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
