VMware Engineer Position

Job Description:

  • Manage and troubleshoot on-premises virtualization platform.
  • Experience with managing a hybrid environment.
  • Experience with source control management and coding best practices.
  • Partnering with vendors, and enterprise teams on emerging best practices, patterns, and technology.
  • Proactively learn emerging platforms and related technology.
  • Mentor junior engineers on new and emerging technology patterns.
  • Ability to solve complex technical issues.
  • Ability to enable/teach peers to be self-sufficient.
  • Establish and maintain best practices as it relates to compliance, security, privacy, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into smaller, more manageable ones, and help others to do the same.
  • Understand what tools are available and useful for your domain, how they work, and the sorts of situations and problems for which they're useful. Use them effectively and teach them to your teammates.
  • Ability to clearly document technical processes, design, and process so that others can understand.
  • Ability to discuss technical solutions or problems to non-technical leaders and business partners.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5-8 years professional experience
  • 5 years of professional IT experience.
  • 5 years of experience with VMware vSphere and VMware Aria suite.
  • 3 years of experience in performance tuning of application stacks.
  • 3 years of experience with Cloud based PaaS and SaaS Platforms and integration points to On Prem infrastructure.
  • 5 years of experience with virtualization
  • 2 years of experience with containerization
  • 5 years of experience with monitoring and performance management of systems.
  • 2 years of experience with networking knowledge.
  • 3 years of experience with modern development and scripting languages. (Python and ansible preferred)
  • Experience with CICD concepts, and tools, branching strategies and leveraging knowledge to assist in delivering an infrastructure as a product.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills within area of expertise, and solid troubleshooting in adjacent domains.
  • Solid understanding of traditional computing technologies including Networking, Compute, Storage, Development, Data, Operations, or Security.
  • Understanding of cloud computing technologies including Networking, Compute, Storage, Development, Data, Operations, and Security.
  • 5 years of experience in one of the following (AWS, Kubernetes, Linux, Windows) administration and configuration.
  • Experience with multiple delivery methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
  • 4 years of experience with Virtual desktop environment (VMware Horizon, and AVD preferred)
