Job Details

Job Title: Mainframe Systems DB2 Administrator

Duration: 24 Months

Location: New York, NY

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting and maintaining DB2 subsystems in a z/OS environment
  • Performing DB2 software installs, upgrades, and maintenance
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex DB2 and related product issues
  • Tuning DB2 for optimal performance and resource utilization
  • Providing technical leadership and documentation for DB2 best practices
  • Utilizing a strong knowledge of SMP/E and its role in the installation process
  • Conducting ongoing maintenance (installing, patching, upgrading, administering, etc.) of the mainframe
  • z/OS operating system, accompanying storage systems, systems software products (e.g., database,
  • transaction server, security management, scheduling, report distribution, etc.), and UNIX Systems Services.
  • The candidate is required to provide Production off-hour coverage and support periodic weekend
  • implementations.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or 10 + years of experience in relevant technical field is required.
  • Experience in DB2 Database system recovery.
  • Working knowledge of DB2.
  • Must have experience with VTAM and TCP/IP.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience working with z/OS, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, IOCP/HCD, basic IBM
  • utilities (IDCAMS, IEFBR14, etc.), program product installations, working knowledge of the IBM virtual tape system, and Unix System Services.
  • Working knowledge of CICS, IMS, and AFP printing is a plus.
  • Experience in using monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON
  • Working with an enterprise-wide, large-scale implementation
  • Excellent communication skills (Oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are required
  • The candidate must have experience with mainframe CPU installs as a systems programmer Consultant
