Job Description
Seeking a Technical Service Manager (TSM) to lead the technical interface with key customers in the wide web flexographic and gravure printing markets. The ideal candidate will specialize in water-based and solvent-based inks and coatings, overseeing technical service activities, managing strategic customer relationships, and ensuring successful implementation .
This leadership role is critical to delivering technical excellence, driving customer satisfaction, and supporting business growth through hands-on service and collaborative solutions.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- 5+ years in a technical support role within wide web flexographic and/or gravure printing.
- In-depth experience with water-based and solvent-based inks used in flexible packaging.
- Proven success managing customer-facing technical engagements and projects.
- Strong understanding of pressroom operations, ink/substrate behavior, drying systems, and surface treatments.
- Skilled in color matching, print defect analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% to support customer sites and internal operations.
Education:
- Bachelor s degree in Chemistry, Printing Technology, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
Core Responsibilities
- Lead technical support activities for wide web flexo and gravure customers using water-based and solvent-based products.
- Conduct on-site troubleshooting, ink optimization, and product performance evaluations.
- Plan and execute press trials, product rollouts, and technical audits at customer locations.
- Collaborate with internal teams including R&D, sales, manufacturing, and regulatory to deliver customized technical solutions.
- Develop and execute service strategies aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction, retention, and innovation.
- Act as the primary technical contact for key accounts, cultivating trusted customer partnerships.
- Mentor and support field service representatives and junior technical staff, as needed.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, service reports, and communication logs for continuous improvement.
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance, particularly around solvent handling and VOC emissions.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with color management systems (e.g., X-Rite).
- Understanding of lamination, coating, and post-print converting
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, VOC limitations, and safety practices in industrial settings.
