Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
3+ years of experience creating technical documentation, SOPs, or process documentation-preferably in a warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex operational activities into clear written and visual documentation.
Proficiency with documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Lucidchart, or equivalent.
Strong interviewing and observation skills with attention to operational detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with ISO, Six Sigma, or Lean documentation standards.
Knowledge of ERP/WMS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, or similar).
Ability to capture and edit process photos or screen captures for inclusion in SOPs.
Familiarity with SharePoint or Confluence for document management.
We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to document and standardize Warehouse Operations procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process documentation, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to translate operational tasks into clear, user-friendly Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Statements of Work (SOWs). This role will require on-site observation, interviews with staff, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure all procedural steps, decision points, and system interactions are accurately captured and visually represented.
Key Responsibilities
Review existing Warehouse Operations SOPs, SOWs, and work instructions to assess completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
Interview warehouse staff, leads, and supervisors to understand detailed workflows, including exceptions and process variations.
Observe operations on the floor to validate process steps, timing, tools used, and safety procedures.
Create, update, and format SOPs that clearly define end-to-end processes, roles, responsibilities, and quality checkpoints.
Develop supporting documentation such as process flow diagrams, checklists, visual aids, and annotated images.
Ensure all documentation adheres to company standards for formatting, version control, and accessibility.
Collaborate with process owners, engineering, and quality teams to ensure alignment and sign-off on finalized documents.
Maintain a central repository for all finalized SOPs and supporting files.
Provide recommendations for documentation improvements or gaps identified during review.
Deliverables
Comprehensive SOPs for all key warehouse processes (receiving, put-away, picking, shipping, returns, rework, inventory control, etc.)
Updated SOW documents aligned with current operational practices.
Process flow diagrams and visual guides integrated into documentation.
Executive summary highlighting key process improvements or documentation gaps.
