Job Title: Senior SSIS Developer / Data Integration Analyst

Location: Remote

Job Description

The Senior SSIS Developer / Data Integration Analyst will perform highly advanced ETL development, data analysis, and documentation to move, validate, and reconcile data across SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, and mainframe systems. This role requires expertise in SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services), data warehousing, and ETL architecture, including incremental/CDC patterns, data quality, and report validation.

The candidate will design and maintain SSIS packages, optimize data workflows, ensure data integrity, and collaborate across teams to improve system performance and reliability.



Essential Job Duties

SSIS / ETL ( 50%)

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated ETL solutions using Microsoft SSIS (project/deployment model, configurations, parameterization, error handling, logging).
  • Orchestrate data movement between SQL Server, Oracle, and Snowflake; integrate with Azure Data Factory, Informatica, and file automation tools like GoAnywhere/MuleSoft as needed.
  • Implement CDC/incremental patterns and tune performance using staging, partitioning, and set-based SQL to meet SLAs.
  • Follow established change management and code migration processes using Azure DevOps/Git; promote code through Dev Test/QA Prod environments with audit trails.
  • Troubleshoot build/run failures; create runbooks; monitor and optimize ETL runtimes and job dependencies.

System Analysis ( 50%)

  • Elicit and document data and reporting requirements (KPIs, filters, delivery cadence) and translate them into functional/data specifications.
  • Produce and maintain source-to-target mappings (S2T), business rules, data dictionaries, and lineage/flow diagrams covering staging, integration, and reporting layers.
  • Define and execute data quality and reconciliation controls (row counts, checksums, referential integrity, threshold/exception reports).
  • Validate data loads against source systems (SQL Server, Oracle, mainframe).
  • Support UAT for data and reporting changes create test scenarios, expected results, coordinate remediation, and retesting.
  • Review database/report performance and suggest alternatives (indexing, partitioning, materialized views, pre-aggregations).
  • Communicate progress, risks, and issues clearly; mentor junior staff; collaborate with SMEs, DBAs, ETL engineers, and reporting teams (Power BI/SSRS).
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation in SharePoint, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop automated ETL solutions using Microsoft SSIS and Oracle platforms.
  • Analyze application functionality and interpret project requirements to create technical specifications for ETL development.
  • Determine database requirements by analyzing business operations, reviewing objectives, and evaluating current systems.
  • Establish and follow development standards (coding, documentation, testing) to ensure maintainable and high-quality solutions.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to align development efforts with business needs.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of technical documentation ensuring completeness and clarity.
  • Ensure project schedules are met and communicate delays or risks proactively.
  • Follow change management and deployment processes.
  • Mentor junior staff in ETL development, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with other developers and analysts on solution design and testing.
  • Apply best practices in data warehouse design and database optimization.
  • Review and assess all database change requests for potential downstream effects on ETLs.
  • Consult data dictionaries to identify dependencies and ensure metadata accuracy.
  • Review and optimize database performance; suggest alternative solutions as needed.
  • Create and maintain technical process and interface documentation as part of ongoing release efforts.
  • Review work from others, troubleshoot issues, and provide feedback to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Promote code from development to production environments.
  • Use GitHub or equivalent version control systems effectively.
  • Experience with Oil & Gas systems and working with state agencies is a plus.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
