Position Summary:
The LIS Analyst is responsible for the implementation, configuration, support, and maintenance of the Laboratory Information Systems used throughout Northside Hospital's network. This role bridges clinical operations and IT to ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant laboratory data management.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Configure, maintain, and optimize LIS platforms (Cerner, or similar systems)

  • Support and troubleshoot LIS-related issues impacting laboratory workflows, interfaces, or data integrity

  • Serve as liaison between the lab, IT, and vendors to ensure proper system functionality and alignment with clinical needs

  • Design and build new test orders, panels, and lab workflows based on clinical requirements

  • Develop and maintain instrument interfaces (HL7/ASTM) between LIS and lab analyzers

  • Assist with regulatory compliance (e.g., CLIA, CAP, HIPAA) through system audits and documentation

  • Participate in go-lives, upgrades, testing, and validation of LIS changes and new modules

  • Train laboratory staff on new system features and assist in change management



Qualifications:
Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field

  • Minimum of 3 years of LIS experience, including LIS configuration and support

  • Experience with Cerner or comparable LIS

  • Understanding of laboratory operations and terminology

  • Familiarity interface engines


Preferred:



  • MT/MLS(ASCP) or similar clinical lab certification

  • Experience supporting multiple hospital or multi-lab environments

  • Knowledge of middleware solutions (e.g., Instrument Manager, Data Innovations)
