What You Will Do:

As a Journeyman Software Quality Assurance Engineer and Tester, you will:
  • Test moderately complex features of enterprise software systems using established test plans and scripts.
  • Execute functional, integration, and performance tests, document results, and track outcomes using designated tools.
  • Participate in follow-up testing, defect resolution, and peer reviews.
  • You will also contribute to test data creation, test case development, and documentation updates. This role typically reports to a supervisor or senior engineer and works under close direction while gaining proficiency in enterprise testing practices.
  • Assist in onboarding new testers, support training activities, and help coordinate testing resources across projects.
  • Will work with technologies such as IBM Rational ETM, RPT, Selenium, JMeter, Control-M, and databases like Oracle and DB2, across platforms including Windows, Linux, and mainframe environments.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least Two (2) years of experience in software quality assurance, infrastructure, or information systems testing.
  • Experience executing test cases, analyzing results, and documenting outcomes using test management tools.
  • Familiarity with test automation tools such as Selenium, JMeter, LoadRunner, or Rational Performance Tester (RPT).
  • Ability to support test data creation, test case development, and defect tracking.
  • Understanding of Agile and Waterfall development methodologies.
  • Exposure to enterprise platforms including Windows, Linux, UNIX, and mainframe systems.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, DB2, or SQL Server.
  • Ability to follow standardized testing procedures and contribute to process improvement.
  • Test Execution & Analysis: Proficient in executing functional, integration, and regression tests; analyzing results.
  • Test Planning & Design: Experience developing test cases, test data, and contributing to test strategy.
  • Automation Support: Working knowledge of test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, JMeter, RPT).
  • Defect Management: Skilled in defect identification, logging, and resolution tracking.
  • Cross-Platform Testing: Comfortable testing across Windows, Linux, UNIX, and mainframe systems.
  • Database Validation: Experience with Oracle, DB2, or SQL Server for data-driven testing.
  • Process Improvement: Contributes to testing process enhancements and documentation.
  • Mentorship: Supports onboarding and training of junior testers.

What Would Be Nice To Have:
  • Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility testing standards and tools (e.g., JAWS, ZoomText).
  • Experience supporting test automation initiatives and contributing to automation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with performance testing and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, AIX, OEM).
  • Exposure to enterprise scheduling tools such as Control-M or OpCon.
  • Experience with ETL tools like Informatica and data masking technologies.
  • Ability to contribute to documentation, training materials, and knowledge transfer activities.
  • Familiarity with test data management tools such as CA Test Data Manager (CA-TDM) or IBM Infosphere Optim.
