Experience: Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field w/ 3+ years of engine testing experience (will count internships)

Role Description

This is a test engineer role that will focus on testing engine components and systems to ensure they meet durability and performance standards. Responsibilities include preparing test setups, installing sensors, executing vibration and structural tests, collecting and analyzing data, and communicating results to engineering stakeholders. Work is conducted both in the office and in the engine lab (Building TC-L), depending on the project phase. The role supports structural validation efforts, including testing fuel systems, air systems, and other engine subsystems to verify compliance with life and performance requirements.

Team Description

This role is part of the Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD), within the Powertrain Validation and Development (PVD) team, which operates under the larger Large Engineering team (IISD). The team is structured into two groups: Validation Engineers, who focus on risk assessment and product development, and Testing Engineers, who are responsible for executing engine validation tests. The team collaborates closely with design, simulation, and instrumentation groups to ensure high-quality engine performance and reliability.

Must-Haves

  • Hands-on experience with structural vibration and durability testing
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems (e.g., ED, IMS)
  • Strong skills in data analysis and interpretation
  • Knowledge of engine systems and components
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and project/time management skills

Nice-to-Haves

  • Familiarity with fuel systems, air systems, and flow/pressure/temperature measurement
  • Experience with modal testing and machine stress analysis
  • Exposure to testing
