About the Role
TEKsystems is seeking a proactive and technically skilled IT Network & Event Specialist to support a high-profile client in New York City. This hybrid role combines hands-on IT infrastructure deployment with project management for large-scale events. You'll work closely with internal teams, vendors, and wireless providers to ensure seamless IT operations before, during, and after events.
This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with strong mentorship and growth potential under the guidance of a seasoned Network Director. Ideal for candidates with strong experience in networking and a passion for event support.

TEKsystems is seeking a proactive and technically skilled IT Network & Event Specialist to support a high-profile client in New York City. This hybrid role combines hands-on IT infrastructure deployment with project management for large-scale events. You'll work closely with internal teams, vendors, and wireless providers to ensure seamless IT operations before, during, and after events.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, configure, and deploy IT infrastructure for events (e.g., DHCP servers, Wi-Fi routers, Fortinet firewalls)
- Conduct on-site surveys and coordinate with vendors and wireless providers (e.g., Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile)
- Troubleshoot bandwidth drops and network performance issues under tight deadlines (e.g., during live streaming events)
- Develop and manage detailed project plans for IT event support
- Provide on-site technical support during events, including diagnosing app-level issues affecting live streams
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee timely delivery and setup of IT equipment
- Configure and test static IPs provided by ISPs for application troubleshooting
- Personally handle switch and firewall configurations (not limited to Fortinet)
- Support desktop and network operations across three office locations
- Maintain documentation, including network diagrams and post-event reports
- Stay current with IT networking technologies and best practices
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years in IT support with a focus on event technology and infrastructure
- Strong hands-on experience with DHCP servers, Wi-Fi routers, and network configuration
- Experience troubleshooting live streaming issues across platforms like Facebook and YouTube
- Familiarity with configuring switches and firewalls (Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, etc.)
- Project management experience, including vendor coordination and tight-deadline execution
- Experience with fixed wireless Point-to-Point solutions
- Excellent communication, organizational, and troubleshooting skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
