Job DescriptionOCI's AI for Operations (AI-Ops) team is building intelligent systems that make Oracle Cloud self-monitoring, self-diagnosing, and self-healing.
As a Senior Data Scientist / Data Engineer, you will design and operationalize the data pipelines, models, and algorithms that power AI-driven reliability across OCI's global infrastructure. You'll work with vast, high-velocity telemetry streams - from routers, circuits, and compute clusters - to build predictive and prescriptive models that help prevent outages, accelerate root-cause analysis, and optimize capacity.
This is a hands-on technical role at the intersection of machine learning, large-scale data systems, and reliability engineering.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
- Build and optimize large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and feature pipelines using tools like Kafka, Spark, Flink, and OCI Data Flow.
Ensure data quality, timeliness, and consistency across multi-region sources. - Develop, train, and deploy models for anomaly detection, event correlation, predictive maintenance, and root-cause inference.
Leverage both statistical modeling and deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn). - Work with LLMs and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques for intelligent alert summarization, incident clustering, and automated RCA generation.
- Embed model outputs into OCI's observability and automation platforms to enable closed-loop decisioning - connecting detection diagnosis remediation.
- Continuously validate models against real-world incident data. Define metrics for prediction precision, RCA accuracy, and operational impact.
- Partner with NRE, GNOC, and platform engineering teams to translate operational challenges into AI/ML solutions that scale to OCI's hyperscale environment.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, or data engineering for large-scale or production systems.
- Strong programming skills in Python (preferred), Scala, or Go.
- Expertise with distributed data systems - Kafka, Spark, Flink, or similar.
- Experience building and deploying ML models in production using MLflow, Kubeflow, or OCI Data Science.
- Solid grasp of statistics, anomaly detection, clustering, time-series modeling, and predictive analytics.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and observability data (metrics, logs, traces, topology).
- Ability to work end-to-end - from data exploration and modeling to deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Skills - Experience with LLM integration (OpenAI, Bedrock, Hugging Face, LangChain) for intelligent operations workflows.
- Understanding of network telemetry, performance metrics, and reliability signals.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible) and DevOps automation.
- Familiarity with data observability and model-drift monitoring.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills - able to work closely with software, AI, and operations teams.
