Senior Network Security Engineer
Contract Length:  12 months+
Location: Austin, Texas (Hybrid)

Summary
We are seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer to perform senior level cybersecurity analysis work that supports the agency’s mission of serving Texans. This position focuses on protecting cloud environments, evaluating security risks, and delivering threat assessment, cyber intelligence, software security, and vulnerability analysis services. The role works closely with cross-functional teams to guide security decisions and ensure that systems and architectures meet security requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity or information security analysis
  • Experience in security or enterprise architecture development, implementation, or management
  • Experience performing security risk assessments or audits within regulatory frameworks
  • Ability to translate operational requirements into protection needs and apply core cybersecurity principles
  • Skilled in evaluating system resilience, dependability, and the impact of operational changes
  • Knowledge of network security architecture concepts including topologies, protocols, components, and defense-in-depth strategies


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Protect and monitor cybersecurity cloud assets, perform threat assessments, and evaluate vulnerabilities
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline teams to guide security improvements and support security-related decision making
  • Develop and integrate cybersecurity designs for systems and networks with multilevel security requirements
  • Document and maintain cloud architecture and systems security requirements throughout the acquisition life cycle
  • Ensure developed or acquired systems align with organizational cloud security architecture standards
  • Perform security reviews, identify architectural gaps, and develop risk management and system security plans
  • Evaluate cloud security architectures proposed in acquisition documents for adequacy and compliance
  • Monitor security advisories, publications, and industry sources to stay current on threats and best practices
  • Determine and document appropriate security controls for information systems and networks
  • Work independently with significant latitude in judgment and decision making
