Scope of Position

Provides program management on some of the most visible and complex healthcare IT initiatives for the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC). Builds long term relationships and forms interdisciplinary teams that include participation from patient care, research and education mission areas. Functions with full authority for the execution and delivery of strategic program & portfolio objectives and deliverables; providing recommendations on scope, schedule, resources, budget and risks.

IT Program Manager will be accountable for the program or portfolio management of IT projects and investments for a specific business area throughout the planning and project lifecycle.

Mentors Portfolio Management Office staff on both project and career growth and makes development recommendations.

Position Summary

As member of the OSUWMC IT Portfolio Management Office, the Program Manager serves as a leader of interdisciplinary programs on an enterprise level. The Program Manager works with executive management across the health system and determines how technology can assist in addressing the needs of the enterprise; then translates these needs into system requirements and design specifications. The Program Manager understands how to leverage the integration of applications and technology for competitive advantage and coordinates dynamic teams of individuals who meet business objectives, schedules, and outcomes. The Program Manager also serves as a mentor within the team and support other duties including, on-boarding of new staff, monitoring project quality and recommending professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire

-Bachelor's degree in computer science, Business Administration or related disciplines or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

-Master's degree preferred.

-6 years of IT Project Management required

-8-12 years of Healthcare IT Project Management preferred

-Portfolio Management experience preferred.

-Experience in previous IT management role preferred.

-PMP certification preferred, but not required

-Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, peers, executive leadership, customers, vendors and others.

-Demonstrated expertise of building consensus across diverse business groups and leaders, and influencing successful outcomes.

-Strategic thinking with ability to combine broad business, technical and political factors.

-Deep understanding of portfolio and project management across multiple industries;

-Consistent exercise of judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

-Budget management experience.

-Possess expert knowledge in schedule management.

-Possesses expert knowledge in various vertical industries and conveys knowledge to others.

-Pursues excellence in all aspects of business.
