Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the Space Training and Evaluation Engineer Support position and to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

This role's focal duty is to offer comprehensive engineering support across the spectrum of planning, coordinating, analyzing, executing, and reporting on space systems training initiatives. In this capacity, the incumbent will offer integrated engineering aid for design reviews, the development of training strategies, and participation in training planning working groups, alongside other analogous training-focused forums.

Applicants should bring a wealth of experience in training, analysis, and/or experimentation on space trainers, crew consoles, or military systems, including hands-on involvement in space operations or crew training. Additionally, proven proficiency in either crafting proprietary/internal tools or using commercial test and space Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) and Modeling and Simulation (M&S) tools such as Satellite Tool Kit (STK) or equivalent platforms to assess space architectures, sensors, and communications systems.

This role mandates technical expertise across a range of critical domains, encompassing Space System Architectures, Satellite and Ground Segment design, Electro-Optical (EO) Infrared (IR), and Radio Frequency (RF) Sensors, Astrodynamics, Propulsion, Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC), Space-related data communications, as well as Space Battle Management and Control.

Skills / Experience Required



  • 10+ years relevant DoD (Department of Defense) work experience

  • Spearhead the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge training initiatives tailored to assess space systems, leveraging ability in crafting training curricula and methodologies

  • Oversee the creation and meticulous review of trainer simulator and crew console engineering documentation, including but not limited to Training Plans, Training Information Sheets, Safety Packages, Data Analysis Management Plans, Technical and Safety Review Board Briefs, Training Readiness Briefs, Training Cards, and Training Results Briefs

  • Execute advanced and intricate training simulations and scenarios, gauging crew reactions across various conditions and scrutinizing decision-making processes to evaluate crew performance, as well as the efficacy and suitability of training materials and devices

  • Assess training outcomes to find compliance with customer specifications, evaluating the performance, effectiveness, and suitability of training materials, simulator systems, and crew console emulators. Compile comprehensive training reports and deliver presentations based on complex data analyses

  • Demonstrates extensive ability cultivated through significant tenure within System Program Offices (SPOs) and/or Program Management Offices (PMOs), showcasing a robust foundation in project oversight and strategic management.

  • Exhibits profound knowledge and hands-on experience in the realm of Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E), adeptly navigating the intricacies of test and training materiel systems to drive innovation and advancement

  • Possesses a nuanced understanding of the deployment and maintenance processes inherent to space test and training materiel systems, ensuring seamless integration and sustained operational readiness

  • Proficiency in Model Based Systems Engineering serves as a cornerstone, enabling the adept use of advanced methodologies to streamline system development and optimization

  • Boasts familiarity with a comprehensive array of disciplines including Space System Architectures, Satellite and Ground Segment design, electro-optical (EO) Infrared (IR), and Radio Frequency (RF) Sensors, Astrodynamics, Propulsion, Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC), Space-related data communications, and Space Battle Management and Control, underscoring a holistic grasp of space technology domains

  • Exceptional written and oral communication aptitude, coupled with proven leadership acumen, helps effective collaboration and alignment within cross-functional teams

  • Education / Certifications

  • BS/BA. (STEM or equivalent experience, preferred)

  • MS/MA (preferred), STEM or equivalent experience (preferred)

Security Clearance

A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen.
