Over time, this role will evolve into a leadership position within a growing internal cloud team.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Azure Cloud Management
    • Manage and optimize Azure IaaS services: VMs, VDI, Blob Storage, File Shares, Backups
    • Maintain and build gold images for virtual machines, including system preparation and generalization
    • Monitor and optimize Azure spend; generate cost analysis reports and recommend cost-saving initiatives
    • Implement high-availability configurations, load balancers, and business continuity solutions
  • Infrastructure Design & Operations
  • Lead transition of cloud operational tasks from MSP to internal team
  • Architect secure and scalable Azure environments in collaboration with DevOps
  • Build and improve virtual network configurations (VNets, FortiGate appliances, IP management)
  • Oversee hybrid identity and Active Directory environments, including future AAD-first direction
  • Security & Compliance
  • Align infrastructure with industry security standards (RBAC, PIM, MFA, conditional access)
  • Collaborate with the security team on foundational security strategy within Azure
  • Collaboration & Strategy
  • Serve as primary Azure technical lead; act as both strategist and executor
  • Collaborate with DevOps to understand dependencies on infrastructure
  • Eventually manage cloud MSP performance and internal team development

Initial 60-90 Day Expectations:

  • Build strong rapport with DevOps team and understand existing infrastructure
  • Conduct a thorough assessment of the Azure environment and provide security and architectural recommendations
  • Review MSP processes and start prioritizing transition of responsibilities in-house

Qualifications:

  • 5 7+ years in cloud infrastructure roles with strong Azure experience
  • Deep knowledge of Azure IaaS: storage, networking, backups, identity management
  • Experience in cost monitoring and optimization within Azure
  • Solid understanding of hybrid AD environments and identity sync models
  • Exposure to Azure containers and DevOps environments (no direct container management required)
  • Familiarity with security tools (e.g., CrowdStrike, Rapid7) and compliance best practices
  • Bonus: VMware experience (nice-to-have, environment is being deprecated)

Soft Skills & Culture Fit:

  • Proven ability to operate independently and take ownership of strategy and execution
  • Comfortable operating in a consultative role with strong follow-through
  • Leadership potential as the team expands
  • Must be willing to be onsite 3 days/week (non-negotiable)

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation and full benefits package
  • 4 weeks PTO
  • 401(k) and health/dental/vision plans
