Location: Cranberry, PA (in the Greater Pittsburgh area)
-they are open to candidates that will relocate and would be open to doing a relocation bonus of a couple thousand to assist)
Onsite requirement: Need to be onsite 3 days/week
Salary: They are relatively open here and want to see what the market looks like
**Struggles they have run into they keep getting candidates that are DevOps heavy and not truly azure infrastructure engineers. They have no issues finding devops people and already have a devops team that's not what they need**
Job Description
Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to help lead the optimization and evolution of their Microsoft Azure-based infrastructure. This is a highly technical, hands-on role focused on infrastructure (not DevOps), with a clear roadmap toward internalizing cloud operations currently managed by an MSP. Over time, this role will evolve into a leadership position within a growing internal cloud team.
Key Responsibilities:

- Azure Cloud Management
- Manage and optimize Azure IaaS services: VMs, VDI, Blob Storage, File Shares, Backups
- Maintain and build gold images for virtual machines, including system preparation and generalization
- Monitor and optimize Azure spend; generate cost analysis reports and recommend cost-saving initiatives
- Implement high-availability configurations, load balancers, and business continuity solutions
- Infrastructure Design & Operations
- Lead transition of cloud operational tasks from MSP to internal team
- Architect secure and scalable Azure environments in collaboration with DevOps
- Build and improve virtual network configurations (VNets, FortiGate appliances, IP management)
- Oversee hybrid identity and Active Directory environments, including future AAD-first direction
- Security & Compliance
- Align infrastructure with industry security standards (RBAC, PIM, MFA, conditional access)
- Collaborate with the security team on foundational security strategy within Azure
- Collaboration & Strategy
- Serve as primary Azure technical lead; act as both strategist and executor
- Collaborate with DevOps to understand dependencies on infrastructure
- Eventually manage cloud MSP performance and internal team development
Initial 60-90 Day Expectations:
- Build strong rapport with DevOps team and understand existing infrastructure
- Conduct a thorough assessment of the Azure environment and provide security and architectural recommendations
- Review MSP processes and start prioritizing transition of responsibilities in-house
Qualifications:
- 5 7+ years in cloud infrastructure roles with strong Azure experience
- Deep knowledge of Azure IaaS: storage, networking, backups, identity management
- Experience in cost monitoring and optimization within Azure
- Solid understanding of hybrid AD environments and identity sync models
- Exposure to Azure containers and DevOps environments (no direct container management required)
- Familiarity with security tools (e.g., CrowdStrike, Rapid7) and compliance best practices
- Bonus: VMware experience (nice-to-have, environment is being deprecated)
