Direct hire Fulltime Role : Power Systems Engineer
Erie, PA
The Senior Power Systems Engineer will own development, design and test of IGBT-based inverter power architectures associated with the propulsion and auxiliary functions on our locomotive and off-highway mining truck applications. Primary focus will be to own and support liquid-cooled design strategies, power agnostic truck designs along with supporting our latest battery-electric "FLXdrive" locomotive system architectures. The candidate will have deep knowledge in high-power inverter/converter systems in the transportation environments and understand battery control topologies.

What do we want to know about you?
- Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering (Ph.D. Desired) w/ 10+ years industry experience
- Strong ability in converting system-level requirements into conceptualized solutions that can be prototyped and/or designed for production use
- Expert in power converter circuit design
- Strong working knowledge and experience with IGBT-based closed-loop control systems in high power transportation applications
- Ability to define gate drive functional requirements.
- Up-to-Date with latest technology trends with ability to integrate our legacy production designs; Established relationships within the power semiconductor industry.
- Silicon and Silicon Carbide power mosfet experience; Working knowledge of semiconductor physics.
- Expertise in Silicon Carbide driving and control
- Ability to analyze complex (electro-mechanical) system behaviors to include common mode, harmonics, ground currents, transient and steady-state operational modes when controlling various DC-DC converter cirucuit and 3-phase motor load types; able to identify parasitic parameters like stray capacitance to ground.
- Strong working knowledge of Matlab, Simulink and ability to create plant-models for OPAL-RT based Hardware in the Loop (HIL) simulators; PLECS and Simplorer expertise is a plus.
- Able to troubleshoot field issues via system analysis and lab testing; design countermeasure to improve system quality (filter / snubber design)
