Job Details

Delta is expanding its wellness data science, data engineering and reporting capabilities while unlocking initiatives that drive improvements in the health and wellness of our employees, their families, and our customers.

The Delta Wellness Data Engineering Co-op will develop and maintain Delta Wellness's AWS data pipelines, data platforms, and development environments. This will encompass testing, developing, quality checking, and automating the data transformation throughout the process from formation to deployment on AWS.

In addition, this role will provide ad-hoc support for reporting and data inquiries related to wellness data.

Data integrity is of utmost importance to Delta Wellness, and this position will require an eye for detail and be responsible for ensuring all data reported has been through thorough quality checks. A successful candidate will also have a strength in data visualization and UX design - finding ways to creatively showcase the data as effectively as possible.

Primary Functions:
  • Locate, extract, transform, and load data from a variety of sources
  • Maintain and continuously improve dashboards and apps based on input from key stakeholders
  • Investigate new technologies with our vendor partner(s) for future implementation
  • Identify ways to improve the UX design of new and existing reports
  • Monitoring ongoing data collection for accuracy and integrity
  • Identify and continually seek to improve data and tools available to Delta as a part of the Delta Wellness Data Platform

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Working as a Co-op does not guarantee a full-time opportunity upon graduation. This position is intended to provide you with educational, and professional work experience to prepare you for the workforce.
  • This position requires you to work for 3 alternating semesters. You cannot actively take any courses (inclusive of online or in-person) and work as a Co-op at the same time, which may delay your graduation by 1-2 semesters.
  • Working on a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Mathematics/Statistics, or another relevant quantitative field
  • The successful candidate will commit to a minimum of 3 rotations:
    • Fall 2025
    • Summer 2026
    • Spring 2027
  • 1+ years of Python, or other programming scripting languages
  • 1+ years of experience in analysis, information science, data visualization, or another relevant quantitative field
  • Functional understanding of basic and object-oriented programming concepts (loops, conditionals, variables, functions, multi-dimensional arrays)
  • 1+ years of SQL experience and an understanding of efficient query practices
  • Must be comfortable working in group and individual settings
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Exposure to cloud computing technologies like AWS
  • Familiarity with software development terms and best practices (DevOps, CI/CD, git)
